Transversal approaches

Intervention approaches

These approaches are especially necessary to fully fulfill their mission and achieve their institutional vision. These approaches, which have mutual feedback and apply throughout their decision-making process, are:

CHS Alternativo assumes human rights in an integral, interdependent and complementary manner. It assumes that human rights are universal, inalienable and indivisible and focuses on the realization of the rights of the victim populations of the various forms of exploitation mentioned in their vision and mission, as well as the rights of those who run the risk of being violated.

CHS promotes gender equity. To achieve this, it cuts gender across its actions seeking to develop a […] process of assessing the consequences for women and men of any planned activity” (Economic and Social Council 1997). In that sense, CHS Alternativo promotes gender sensitive decisions, where the impact of the actions towards greater equality among people is analyzed, justified and oriented.

CHS Alternativo promotes respect for the protection and guarantee of the rights of children and adolescents. In this sense, it practices and drives the adoption of decisions that impact them aiming at improving their development and well-being.

From a psychosocial perspective, CHS Alternativo promotes a horizontal relationship with the beneficiaries of their actions, seeking that the person feels comfortable with the information, guidance or attention that can be provided. For the intervention to be adequate, the knowledge, customs and beliefs of the population in which they are going to work must be respected, betting on flexibility and tolerance in relation to the various particular problems of each person.
