CHS Alternativo’s campaign, with the support of Circus Grey, speaks directly to sex exploiters in the field of tourism and travel.

The problem

    • Between 2011 and 2013, 811 cases of ESNNA [1] were registered in our country.
    • 73% of the population states that ESNNA is developed in the field of tourism and travel [2].
    • more than 50% of the population considers that intermediate clients and those who facilitate the sexual exploitation of minors should be sanctioned.
    • between 2010 and 2014, 196 victims of ESNNA were treated at the Legal and Psychological Care Center of CHS Alternativo.

The campaign

The “Prison” campaign is an initiative of the Free Fly Movement, represented in Peru by Human and Social Alternative Capital (CHS Alternativo), which seeks to raise awareness among tourists and national and foreign travelers about the risks of penalization for those who sexually exploit children or adolescents in the city of Iquitos, Loreto region.

A circuit was created in the city of Iquitos, in which graphic pieces and other communicational products aimed at preventing the sexual exploitation of children in the field of travel and tourism were placed, which have been seen by tourists during their journey from the airport to their hotel room. Activities were also carried out to raise public awareness of the existence of a penalty for the sexual exploitation of children through an itinerant prison in which an actor was dressed as a prisoner. This prison will cover the points where cases of sexual exploitation of children have been reported, such as the El Dorado Hotel. The activation of the campaign was also accompanied by broadcasts on local radio stations.

“Prison” is the product of a work that reflects the involvement of different public and private institutions.
