Prevention of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (CSE) in the field of tourism and travel
Prevention of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (CSE) in the field of tourism and travel
CSE is one of the worst forms of human rights violation, it is estimated that 14,000 to 26,000 underage women are exposed to possible sexual exploitation in Peru.
The boom of tourism that Peru lives makes it a destination sensitive to this practice. ECPAT International (End Child Prostitution and Trafficking) in 2008 already warned that this country was becoming a new destination for the exploitation of children and adolescents. In this context, with this project CHS Alternativo seeks to contribute to the creation of a protective environment in the fight against sexual exploitation of children in Peru, with emphasis on the field of tourism and travel.
The project is based on strengthening the capacities for prevention in the different actors directly and indirectly involved in the problem of CSE, and at the same time, promoting an articulated work among them.
Expected results
- A greater prevention and detection of CSE by tourism service providers in Lima and Iquitos.
- The prevention of CSE in Peru between the public and private sector and civil society organizations
- Putting an end to mistreatment, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence and torture against children.
- Girls, boys and adolescents and members of the community jointly increasing the prevention of CSE in their community.
